IFTU Condemns the murder of brother Ahmed Adris Abbas a member of the Transport and Communication Workers Union in Baghdad : The Iraqi Federation of Trade Unions (IFTU) announces the loss of the martyred trade unionist and member of the Transport and Communication Workers Union, brother Ahmed Adris Abbas who was assassinated on Thursady 24th February 2005 in Martyrs’ Square in central Baghdad. These cowardly attacks and assassinations of our members represent the bankruptcy of the terrorists and their Saddam supporters who focus their campaign of hatred against working people and their trade union representatives. The IFTU calls on these assassins to be brought to justice and declares that their attempts to terrorise us will not deter our resolve to build a strong, independent and democratic trade unions. The IFTU calls on the international labour movement to condemn this atrocity against a brave trade unionist who fought to build free unions.
